what would happen if i were to feed my guinea pigs food that they are not ment to have? @anonymous: Hi! I'm a fellow guinea pig obsessive, and I would like you to know something else about guinea pigs: My pigger, Pumpkin Pie, loves lettuce. I think you said above that guinea pigs can't have lettuce, and that is definetly wrong. But a weird fact about lettuce is this: if a guinea pig eats too much, it's like in Beatrix Potter's The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies: it is very soporific, meaning it makes your piggie very sleepy. When we frist got Pumpkin, she wouldn't eat anything but lettuce. The next day, after she had eaten a lot of my mom's lettuce, she kept falling asleep! We thought something was wrong with her, until I remembered the Flopsy Bunnies. Also, my other guinea pig, Hodgie (who had to be put to sleep yesterday because of a brain tumor. WAA WAA), back when Fred was still alive (a tribute to the Halloween piggy known as Fred (8/28/2009), and the Fat Thing known as Hodgie(12/8/2010)), Hodgie got a hold of a small peice of bacon that fell off the table, and guess what? He liked it! Also, once, a couple of years ago, Hodgie got into my neighbor's rhubarb, and he ate a little bit of leaf, and he still lived. I'm not reccomending that you feed these things to your piggies, but I do konw that if they do happen to get a hold of it, just be calm and don't panic. Also, I don't think you had cherries on the list of foods that piggies can eat. They can eat cherries, but you have to pit them first. Also, Fred and Hodgie didn't seem to like them much, just a personal prefrence thing
