Six injured in Dawsonville Highway collision - Gainesville Times

Six people were transported to the hospital — one by air ambulance — following a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on Dawsonville Highway.

Cpl. Austin Allen with the Georgia State Patrol said the crash happened at Dawsonville Highway's intersection with Lynncliff Drive shortly after 3 p.m.

Allen said a westbound minivan attempting to turn onto Lynncliff Drive from the highway failed to yield to oncoming traffic, and was struck on the right side by an eastbound vehicle.

The minivan was forced off the roadway as a result of the collision, eventually coming to rest in a grassy area just off Lynncliff Drive. The other vehicle remained in the intersection following the crash.

The driver of the minivan, Gainesville resident Mitchell Brookshire, 59, and his passenger, 50-year-old Teresa Rundles, also of Gainesville, were injured in the crash.

Allen said the driver of the other vehicle, Maria Rosales, 19, and her passengers, Brenda Domingo, 5; Evelyn Domingo, 16; and Veronica Gasca, 17, were injured as well. All four were said to be from the Cumming area.

Three of the patients suffered significant injuries, according to Cpt. Zach Brackett with the Hall County Fire Department; five were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

The remaining victim, which Allen reported to be Evelyn Domingo, was taken to Atlanta Medical Center in the air ambulance.

Brookshire, who was determined to be the at-fault driver in the crash, now faces charges of D.U.I. and Failure to Yield While Turning Left.6368+/- SF on Dawsonville Highway at the Bridge.
