I just booked my first flight with Allegiant Airlines out of Portsmouth International Airport and it will be the last. It was the worst booking/reservation experience I have ever had. Allegiant’s customer service is terrible. It may seem like a good value but in the end it’s not.
that operates scheduled and charter flights

I arrived to Lehigh Valley International Airport in Allentown, PA at 12:40. is a small airport served by Delta mainline, Delta Connection, United Express, US Airways Express, and Allegiant Air. Allegiant is unique among US airlines in that they charge a fee of $5.00 to check-in at the airport. They also don't offer self-service kiosks - all airport check-in must be completed with an agent. Free options are online check-in, which you must print and bring with you, or mobile check-in on a smartphone. I decided not to pay $5.00 to check-in, and instead decided to do my first-ever mobile check-in. I borrowed a friend's old smartphone which they no longer use, downloaded the Allegiant app, and checked in. So when I got to the airport, with my boarding pass on the phone and with no bags to check, I proceeded straight to security. A quick and easy 10 minutes later and I was already airside. I found some windows which overlooked the apron and decided to wait there to spot my incoming plane. First I saw another Allegiant MD80, N893GA, arriving to Gate 7. This MD83, built in 1990 and formerly with Aeromexico, would shortly be operating Allegiant flight 627 to Sanford-Orlando .
However, this will be our first and last time flying with them
Maurice J. Gallagher Jr., chairman/CEO of Allegiant Air, walks through the company’s new Airbus A319 passenger jet during an aircraft “open house” for employees at McCarran International Airport Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013. The new jet is more fuel efficient than the company’s current jets. The airline charges extra for almost everything, including checked and carry-on luggage, sodas, snacks, most advance seat assignments, even booking tickets by phone or by internet. (Allegiant waives this fee if you buy a ticket at the airport.) In September, the airline began levying a $5 fee for printing boarding passes at the airport, a charge that passengers can avoid by checking in online. To pad margins, Allegiant also sells hotel rooms, rental cars, and even Cirque du Soleil tickets through its website.
