This was one of our stopovers during the drive back to Winnipeg. We initially parked across the Reebok store (midpoint of Bldg B) and as we browsed the shops to the left towards Bldg A, my uncle decided to park closer to save us the trouble of a long walk back. Wear comfortable shoes as Albertville is spread out over a large area and requires a lot more walking than, say, the better-designed Twin Cities Premium Outlets.
We thought we were done outlet shopping at Eagan but we still found good deals here particularly at Eddie Bauer, Gap and Levi’s. The Reebok outlet stores in MN had the same prices and promotions so we felt good about our earlier purchases… no buyer’s remorse for us.
We did not cover the entire mall and only browsed a third of the roughly 100 shops. I had never been here before and was looking for a mall directory sign but could not locate one (missed the one in front of Kay Jewelers at Bldg B). I did manage to find a map & directory (the tearpad type) inside a store but we were done shopping by then.
I know Albertville is a favourite shopping destination for my relatives in Winnipeg. I expect it is now getting serious competition from the recently-opened Twin Cities in Eagan. I actually prefer Twin Cities based on mall layout and location (10-min car ride to Mall of America).
Also, the absence of a proper food court in Albertville is just plain bad. Nowhere to eat, seriously. The map did say there is a Subway (Bldg A) and a Mrs. Fields/TCBY (Bldg C), but that is not enough. We ended up having a late lunch at the nearby Burger King because there was nowhere else to go.
We still had a long drive ahead of us so we only stayed here a few hours.
